Mel: This is Ask a Stupid Question. I ask the things people at work are too embarrassed to ask out loud.
Mo: There are no stupid questions.
Mel: There are. That's why nobody asks them. What is an agent.
Mo: Something that does more than one step without checking with you in between. That's it. That's the whole thing.
Mel: Can my employer read what I type into it.
Mo: On a work account, assume yes.
Mel: Nobody told me that.
Mo: It's in a document you accepted.
Mel: Is it learning from my documents.
Mo: On a business plan, usually not. On a free one, go and look at the settings.
Mel: Why does it make things up.
Mo: It produces what an answer looks like. Sometimes what an answer looks like is wrong.
Mel: And it sounds the same either way.

Mo: They give it more. Most people type one line and then judge it on that.
Mel: Is prompting a real skill.
Mo: Knowing what you want is the skill. Typing it is not.
Mel: Am I too late.
Mo: The tool changes every few months. Whatever anyone learned two years ago is gone. Everybody is starting again.
Mel: Will it take my job.
Mo: It'll take tasks. Whether that adds up to your job depends on what your job is made of.
Mel: What do I do when I don't trust the answer.
Mo: Ask it for the source. Then go and read the source. If it can't give you one, you have your answer.
Mel: Last one. What's the stupidest question you have asked it.
Mo: I asked it whether I should take the job.
Mel: What did it say.
Mo: It asked me what I was afraid of.
