A Skill is a reusable way of doing a task. It gives ChatGPT the instructions, examples, resources and checks for a method you want followed consistently—without pasting that method into every chat.

The clearest route is Plugins in the left sidebar, then Skills at the top of the directory. Here you can see what is installed and, where available, what you created or what has been shared with you.

Create one by talking ChatGPT through the workflow, using the editor, or uploading a Skill you trust. Be specific about the trigger, the steps, the output and the quality checks. A useful Skill might turn store-visit notes into the same report format every time, or review a board paper against a fixed checklist.

Once installed, ChatGPT can use a Skill automatically when it fits the request. That makes the workflow convenient, but also means you should know what you installed. Skills can include files and code. Review the source, remove anything you no longer trust, and remember that personal Skills may need separate installation on desktop and web or mobile.

Use a Skill for a method you repeat across different work. Use a Project for context that belongs to one continuing job. Start with one process you already know well; that makes the Skill easier to test.
