Chat answers questions. Cowork does work. It's Claude with its hands on your actual files — reading, creating, and organising, in a folder you choose. Two minutes on the biggest shift in how Claude helps.
Cowork sits right alongside Chat. Open it, point Claude at a folder on your computer, and everything in that folder is workable: documents it can read, files it can create, a mess it can organise.
Then give it a job, not a question. Sort these files. Turn these notes into a report. Build me a spreadsheet from these invoices. Claude plans the steps, works through them, and checks in — you see what it's doing and approve what matters.
Two things make this bigger than it looks. Jobs can run on a schedule — a Monday briefing ready before you sit down. And Cowork is reaching the web and mobile, with sessions saved to your account — so the work continues even when your laptop is closed.
Start small and real: pick one messy folder and ask Claude to make sense of it. Ten minutes in, you'll understand why this changes things — Claude stops talking about your work and starts doing it.
