Chat answers scroll away. Real work needs a page — something that stays put while you shape it. In Gemini, that page is called Canvas, and it's free.
Select Canvas from the menu and ask for something — a document, a web page, or an interactive quiz. I asked for a leadership quiz, and instead of explaining how to build one, Gemini built it: chat on one side, the working quiz running on the other. It opens in preview; the code sits behind the Code tab if you ever want it, but you don't need to touch it. Describe the thing — an app, a game, a calculator — and Canvas builds the real, working version.
And you shape it just by asking. I dropped in a PDF — a leadership book — and said "add five more questions from this." Canvas read the document and folded them in: ten questions now, in seconds. Recolour it, shorten it, feed it your own sources — it all happens in the chat, and the preview updates as you watch. When it's ready, export it to Google Docs or share it with a link.
Next time you're about to ask for an answer, ask for the thing instead — the page, the quiz, the tool. That's the shift Canvas makes: from talking about the work to doing it.
