Gemini answers from the whole internet. Sometimes you want the opposite — answers from your documents and nothing else. That's Gemini Notebook, and it might be the most useful thing Google makes.
You create a notebook and load it with your material — reports, PDFs, slides, web pages, YouTube links. From then on every answer comes from those sources, with citations pointing to the exact passage. And if the answer isn't in your documents, it says so instead of guessing.
Then there's Audio Overview. It turns your documents into a conversation between two AI hosts — a podcast about your own material, that you can listen to on the drive home. And you choose what kind of conversation. Deep dive is the default: two hosts unpacking it properly. Brief is the short version — the core ideas, quickly. Critique reviews your material and tells you how to improve it. Debate argues the different perspectives in it. Same documents, four different jobs. You can also set the language, the length, and tell the hosts what to focus on.
And you can interrupt them. Once the audio has generated, choose interactive mode, then press Join while it's playing — the hosts stop, ask what you want to know, and answer it from your sources before picking up where they left off. Ask them to slow down on something. Ask them to explain it differently. It's a podcast that takes questions and it is worth knowing that there is a short pause as you join and before they answer your question. Google says your voice and what you asked aren't stored or shared, which is worth knowing if you're talking out loud about work documents.
Audio is one output of several. The same sources will give you a video overview, a mind map, an infographic, flashcards, a quiz, a data table, even a slide deck — built only from what you loaded in.
And your notebooks travel. They sync into the Gemini app, so the research you built at your desk is there in every chat.
